As candidate for First Vice President, my platform is built on three pillars that speak to the heart of sisterhood: Inclusion, Retention, and Growth. These are not just words—they are guiding principles for how we care for one another, strengthen our chapter, and carry the legacy our sisterhood and NMAC forward.

INCLUSION

Inclusion means ensuring that every Soror—newly initiated, seasoned, Delta Dear, shut-in, or inactive—feels seen, heard, and valued within our chapter space. It’s about deepening sisterhood by creating intentional opportunities for connection. Ideas for Implementation:

  • Launch a Delta Dears Circle: Create a recurring event or virtual space where our Delta Dears can share their wisdom, be honored, and remain actively engaged in chapter life. Many of our Delta Dears—especially those who are shut in—need to feel our presence and love. Let’s commit to showing up for them through home visits, heartfelt phone or virtual calls, and thoughtful gestures like handwritten letters or cards. .

  • Delta H.O.M.E." (Helping Our Members Engage): Develop small, local sisterhood groups that include newly reclaimed, active, and non-financial Sorors. These circles can host informal events and build friendly competition across the chapter. Assign a lead to each circle to help share chapter updates and reminders.

  • As part of the “Sister Spotlights,” incorporate and highlight newly reclaimed Sorors in the weekly Digest and on social media (IG and Facebook). This will promote engagement and help Sorors feel welcomed, seen, and excited to be a part of NMAC.

RETENTION

Retention is about cultivating an environment where Sorors want to remain active because they feel fulfilled—professionally, emotionally, and personally. It’s about recognizing that membership is more than just service—it’s also about support, growth, and connection.

Ideas for Implementation:

  • Relaunch the Leadership Academy: Offer a structured program to help Sorors grow as both chapter leaders and professional changemakers. Sessions can cover public speaking, strategic thinking, conflict resolution, and career development. With C-suite executives, judges, SVPs, and CEOs in our chapter, we can tap into this wealth of experience to uplift and inspire one another.

  • Launch Delta Calm: In partnership with Health and Wellness Committee, we will host wellness & self-Care workshops to offer mental health check-ins, stress management sessions, fitness activities, and healing circles. Propose a quarterly self-care day with chapter-wide activities such as spa days, church visits, or yoga/Pilates classes. This event will be in conjunction with Delta H.O.M.E event.

GROWTH

Growth encompasses both reclamation and development. It’s not just about increasing membership—it’s about creating meaningful engagement and impact. Growth means actively welcoming back Sorors who have stepped away and inviting them to contribute their unique gifts to the chapter.

Ideas for Implementation:

  • Organize a “Welcome Back Weekend”: Host a warm, low-pressure weekend filled with activities designed to reconnect Sorors and recharge their Delta spirit.

  • Offer “Skill-Share Saturdays”: Provide opportunities for reclaimed and active Sorors to share their talents through mini-workshops—ranging from grant writing and digital marketing to yoga and the arts.

  • Conduct a Quarterly Reclamation Experience Survey: Gain insights from newly reclaimed Sorors to assess their experiences in the chapter. Use the data to evaluate program effectiveness, make meaningful adjustments, and ensure continued engagement and support.

A Heart for Membership & Soror Well-Being

While Soror Abdul’s leadership has been instrumental in strengthening North Manhattan’s operations, her greatest passion lies in the well-being of her sorors. She knows that membership is not just about numbers—it is about the health, engagement, and emotional connection of every member. She is committed to ensuring that every soror feels seen, valued, and supported, whether they have been active for decades or are reclaiming their place in the chapter.

Her focus on membership wellness goes beyond simple engagement—she believes in checking in on sorors, celebrating their milestones, supporting them through challenges, and creating spaces where they can recharge and reconnect. She is committed to strengthening reclamation efforts, ensuring that those who have stepped away from chapter life know that they are always welcome back home.

For 19 years, Soror Abdul has led with compassion, strategy, and a deep love for North Manhattan. She understands that when sorors feel appreciated and empowered, they are more likely to engage, serve, and lead. Her professional experience, combined with her dedication to North Manhattan, has equipped her with the leadership skills needed to strengthen membership services, enhance the soror experience, and ensure that our chapter remains a beacon of sisterhood and service.

For Soror Abdul, North Manhattan is not just an organization—it is home. And she will continue to pour her heart into ensuring its legacy remains strong for generations to come.
